I did a show last night with just Leah. We called it Chips n' Dough, and it was pretty sweh. It was cool for me cause' I check in with people during a scene, and this time I could only check in with Leah.

That's it.

Oh! I thought of doing a song where you really only rhyme everything using three words. and you use them a lot.

It should sound like a rap/rock song, a la Rage Against The Machine...

UH, got the truck, hit the buck, with the truck
don't give a fuck bout' the buck, eat the buck
in the truck, oh fuck! got some buck, in the truck
so now it's a truck full of buck, but the buck
was such a fuck, you could say, that the truck
hit a fuck, and now it's a truck full of fuck
nasty truck, get the fuck, out the truck, buck!
yup, I named the buck "buck," cuz, it's a buck, fuck!
I'm done fuckin' with "buck" the buck, and the truck
Ya see, I hit the buck with the truck (music stops)
AND I DON'T GIVE A FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
(And at "FUUUUUU-" here you'd have one of those Tom Morello-style guitar riffs)
AND I DON'T GIVE A FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

The next verse would probably be about a duck that could suck with no luck.  I'd hit it with my truck.

...

AND I DON'T GIVE A FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

Ever noticed how the times that you really want responses on a post (in your journal or in communities), that's the post no one says a word?

Yo I just finished watching all three acts. It's really amazing. You gotta watch it now cuz I think it's only going to be up for a lil bit, and then you can get it on iTunes and DVD. Created by Joss Whedon, starring Neil Patrick Harris. It's great to see that creativity still exists in the big leagues. I don't want to give anything away, but trust you will love it.

Some day, I need to sit down and spend 52 minutes to check this out fully. I can't wait until that day. I bought the album right when it came out. Oh man, it's so incredibly good.

Yay radiohead!

Geez, ya'll

I've had a netflix account for months now and I just this moment realized that I could have ordered Threads.

Then I tired to do that and it doesn't look like Threads is in the database.

They have The Day After, of course...but not Threads, which I have heard is a much better film. Can I make Netflix get it for me somehow?

beh...

So I wrote this post a long time ago about how I had started a screenplay and how I was so exited about it. I now realize that it was a fairly stupid post because I never even touched the thing after making that post. Until recently. It takes me a long time to learn things, like not to wait for inspiration. That is a dumb thing to do people. You must crap words. You can make the words better later but you crap them immediately. Why am I giving you advice? You are probably way ahead of me on this one. So now I just write a little bit each day and hope for the best. Why didn't I do that before?

What a Relief!

Yesterday I got half of my home birth kit AND our health insurance cards. We're doing a home birth but really wanted to have the hospital (with insurance) as backup, just in case.

I plan on posting pictures of my whole birth kit when I get the rest of it. Baby is due in just 4 weeks and I have a feeling it's going to come early, just like Elijah did.

I'm so excited to meet it!

I had a dream last night that I went into labor. I was grateful when I woke up and found otherwise lol

Well...

I didn't spend any of this weekend pre-mastering the new album. After a month, I *still* have 6 more songs to work on. I didn't do anything tonight either. I did record some new beats yesterday, as well as a new song called Enough. It's kind of a derivative work, but at least I have new lyrics coming. After every song I write, I think that maybe I'm done and I'll never end up writing anything ever again. So maybe this was the last song I'll ever write. Hopefully not.

Master of Fine Arts (my new album) already has 20 tracks on it, so I guess that's good. Any songs I write now will either be on the next new album afterwards or else not at all. I already have a few new songs fully or partially written-- It's such a gnawingly slow process.

I take your picture!!!

Elijah's first night in his own room went fairly well. He did wake up three times before I brought him into bed but I think he wasn't feeling well and was probably hungry.

Last night, however, he did swimmingly! He didn't wake up at all until 230 or so, went right back to sleep. Woke at 5ish and went back to sleep. I did bring him into bed around 6 because I wanted to grab a few more minutes of sleep. But he dood it!

If the next two nights go as well as the last two, we'll take down the crib from our bedroom and then we'll rearrange the room so it won't look so thrown together anymore. Can't paint yet, partly financial and partly because of the off-gassing from paints (definitely can't afford the $60 a gallon low-VOC paint just yet).

I hope everyone has a good weekend! <3

Back to Bushwick, Factory Fresh

My friend Nicole ventured out of Manhattan to sightsee in Bushwick this weekend — practically her first visit since she lived in the Moore St. lofts 5 years ago. It was the perfect opportunity to show off the Jefferson stop area and “Morgantown.” We started off with a swing by the best coffee shop on earth, and rounded the corner to the famed tacos of Starr Street (open on weekends now!) and she was of course already amazed. We then stopped and each got a dress at Urban Jungle Vintage — then on to the main attraction: Factory Fresh.

Their current show, Un Named Rottens, “showcases works that look at the primal side of the human psyche and its relation to us in the modern society” and features new works by New York-based artists Beau Velasco, Daniel St. George II, and Jeremiah Maddock. Co-founder Ali Ha came from the backyard when we came in and reported that the opening (scroll down for pics) had been successful and that they actually get more foot traffic for openings here in their new spot on Flushing Ave than they did on Orchard Street in the LES!

We were both blown away by Jeremiah Maddock’s intricate drawings and Ali told us that as a child, writing utensils had to be taken away from him or he would draw on anything and everything. Daniel Anthony St. George II (aka AZstar78) displayed text and image collages made on (really amazing) found paper; copies of his recent zine “The Royal We” are available at the gallery. Painter/tattoo artist/noise band co-founder Beau Velasco’s pieces were a great contrast to Maddock’s “musical hieroglyphics” (as perfectly described in his bio). Factory Fresh delivers again. We swung by Moore Street to take a peek at Roberta’s — and the Saturday tour was complete.

Tonight is the first night we're having Elijah sleep in his toddler bed in his own room!

I've put him down for naps there all this week and it's been fine, but this is the first nighttime sleep.

I'm very excited about this because I've loved co-sleeping up to now, but with me being as preggo as I am, Elijah sleep as poorly (in our room) as he has, and the fact that he ALWAYS wakes up within 30 minutes of us going to bed... this is just something we all need.

Here's hoping it works out!

In other news, last night I had a phone interview with a company that may be hiring me on as a professional green blogger!

He's pretty much letting me pick my rates (!) and if what I throw at him sticks, then I'll try out a "practice" post and article. If that's what he's looking for, and I really think he and I are synced on all this, then I'm in!
